Lilith Fair was a groundbreaking opportunity for musicians such as Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu, Dido, and Nelly Furtado, but less known is the history of Yeast Infectious. While attending Lilith Fair as personal assistant and chai warmer for k.y. long, YI founder Gaia Hotspur befriended Echo Sphere, then working as a womyn’s room sherpa. Their breakthrough came while performing their subsequent hit Gynoeccentric at a Bryn Mawr coven. Yeast Infectious’ singular style has been described as a combination of the joyfulness of menarche with the stubborn excellence of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
